Research
The research in our laboratory is aimed at the development of new methodologies for synthetic organic chemistry. The central focus of the investigations is directed toward the use of hypervalent iodine, which offers an array of opportunities for designing advanced oxidation reactions, involving new bond formations. These include group-transfer processes, wherein a substituent is transferred from a hypervalent iodine reagent onto an organic acceptor, as well as hypervalent iodine-promoted oxidations that may be also carried out using a catalytic amount of the iodine-containing compound. Our work spans over three major areas: methodology development, experimental mechanistic studies, and computational modelling.
